Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa
announces special Pongal ex gratia to PSU employees
On Friday Tamil Nadu chief
minister J Jayalalithaa sanctioned a special Pongal ex gratia to employees of
state public sector undertakings and statutory boards.
It has been the practice of
the state government to offer special Pongal ex gratia to employees who are not
covered under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965.
Employees belonging to A and
B groups, who are in the supervisory cadre, would get Rs 1,000 each, an official
statement said.
The chief minister said in
respect of C and D group employees of statutory boards, an ad hoc bonus
equivalent to 30 days emoluments computed as on March 31, 2013, subject to the
upper ceiling of Rs 3,000, would be paid for the financial year 2012-13.
A sum Rs 500 will be paid to
pensioners and family pensioners of the statutory boards and state transport
undertakings.
"My government's
initiative will help PSU employees and their families to celebrate Pongal
festival with joy," Jayalalithaa said.
